Small Kitchen Remodeling – NYC

Kitchen remodeling might seem to be a very difficult project for some of us. At some point we might not appreciate what we currently have around us. In some cases it could be something major or minor. We would like to present to you one of our recent kitchen renovations we did for our client. Once we looked at the existing cabinets we could tell that they required some definite care, meaning old lacquer with stain was peeling off, cabinet front edges were chipped off etc. According to existing kitchen condition we determined that cabinet carcasses/ boxes we in good shape so we and our clients decided we were going to leave them in place and do new cabinet re-facing. Partial kitchen renovation, in this case cabinet re-facing does not require neither new counter space nor new backsplash. Our responsibility here was to dismantle existing cabinet fronts and make new ones/ flat panel style, measure the side panels on each side of peninsula, lower and upper cabinets.

How we solved it

Our approach

While the new fronts were manufactured and finished at our work shop, we had some site work to do.

We needed to close off the section separating kitchen from the living room with access to the window;
protect the floor,
protect already painted ceiling, surrounding walls, backsplash and countertop.
next was done we started preparing the surfaces of the cabinets with filling in the holes and sanding all bumps/ uneven surfaces down.
Finally we could start the spraying phase.
Next day it was all dry, we took all of the protection down and started installation of new cabinet fronts. We used soft closing euro style hinges and soft closing side mounted drawer slides.
The color of that kitchen was matched with Benjamin Moore paint Sunrise 829. The lacquer had satin sheen finish.

By looking at our pictures you can tell that it was worth doing that kitchen renovation. If you lower budget and you want to improve and refresh the look of your kitchen we definitely recommend doing such a work.
